DAVID OSSMAN:
12 / 6 / 1936 - 1950s (CHILDHOOD) - Ossman was born in Santa Monica, CA then shortly moved to Redwood City, south of S.F. Between 1943 - 45 he lived two years in Mexico City between returns to CA. Ossman spent 5th and 6th grade in S.F. before moving to LA for his Jr. and Senior High school years.
2 / 1951 "WASHINGTON'S BIRTHDAY" (LRB) - Ossman wrote and narrated this 4 person playlet for a close circuit broadcast at John Adams Jr. High School.

11 / 29 / 1939 - 1950s (CHILDHOOD) - Bergman was born in Shaker Heights, Ohio, a Cleveland suburb, where he grew up and attended public schools through High School.
c. early 1950's "MORNING REPORT" (SHAKER HEIGHTS JR. HIGH SCHOOL STATION) - (LRB) - Bergman was an early morning DJ that made announcements until, when bored one day, he reported that the Chinese Communists had taken over the high school, and was immediately relieved of his position.
c. mid 1950s (SHAKER HEIGHTS HIGH SCHOOL PLAYS) (TP) - Bergman appeared in several school dramatic productions, in Cleveland, Ohio.
c. 1956 "ALICE IN WONDERLAND" (TP) - Ossman played the Gryphon, and co-starred with Richard Chamberlain in this Pomona College production.

4 / 1956 "DIRTY HANDS" BY SARTE (TP) - Ossman played Prince Paul, and co-starred with Robert Towne in this Pomona College production.
8 / 1956 "ATTENTION CONVENTION" (RT) - Bergman formed a comedy group with High school friends Jerry Wininger, Bobby Fisher, and Bruce Berger and recorded a 'break in' novelty single lampooning the 1956 Democratic convention, utilizing popular songs, a la "The Flying Saucer" on Bergman's Webcor reel to reel tape recorder. The group approached Carl Reese, local DJ, who advised them to polish up the writing and re-do the recording. When it was finished Reese took it to Buddy Zellman, local producer who released it on his label, Buddy records, and about 5,000 copies were pressed.
8 / 31 / 1956 "ATTENTION CONVENTION" - THE FOUR CANDIDATES - BUDDY RECORDS 7" 45RPM (S) - Bergman's first record was released and received airplay in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and possibly Detroit.
9 / 1 / 1956 CLEVELAND PLAIN DEALER - SAT. SEPT. 1, 1956 ISSUE - "JOCKEY HELPS GROOVE CONVENTION NEEDLE" BY TOM O'CONNELL - (NP) - Bergman's comedy group The Four Candidates were featured in this photo / article, along with disc jockey Carl Reese, about their recently released 'break in' novelty record "Attention Convention", referred to as "Convention Attention", in this newspaper published in Cleveland, Ohio
9 / 1957 - 6 / 1961 (YALE UNIVERSITY) - Bergman attended this prestigious University in New Haven, CT and befriended Phil Proctor in the drama department.
c. 1957 - 1961 THE YALE RECORD - (NP) - Bergman spent most of his undergraduate years working on the Yale University newspaper becoming it's managing editor by 1960, publishing in New Haven, CT.
1958 "BIG AS A MOUNTAIN" - JIM FARADAY - BUDDY RECORDS - 7" 45RPM (S) - Bergman wrote the lyrics for this song recorded by a local artist from Cleveland, Ohio.
c. 1958 "BREAKFAST WITH THE BERGMANS" (LRB) - Bergman was featured on his parent's early morning Cleveland, OH program during his visits home from college.
c. 1958 - 61 "OH! OEDIPUS" (MP) - while attending Yale, Bergman wrote a movie screenplay, and submitted it to and winning the Yale Film Society Screen - Writing Contest.


PHIL PROCTOR:


7 / 28 / 1940 - 1950s (CHILDHOOD) - Proctor was born in Goshen, Indiana a town in the northeastern corner of the state, and was raised in NYC. He received his initial education there attending Allen Stevenson elementary and high school at Riverdale Country School where he graduated.
c. late 40's "SILENT NIGHT" (S) - Proctor's parents had a non-professional recording unit that cut little 78 RPM phonograph records. Proctor still has this, his first record, along with some wire recordings made later on his father's machine.
c. 1949 "UNCLE DANNY READS THE FUNNIES" (LTVB) - appears live on this local kid's show from WPIX (NYC).
c. 1950 "M.D. TELETHON" (LTVB) - presents money to Jerry Lewis on this network broadcast.
c. early 1950s "(KNOCK, KNOCK, FOR KNICKERBOCKER COMMERCIAL PARODY)" (RT) - Proctor's parents got a reel to reel tape recorder and he began to record little skits and fake commercials for his own amusement including this item that he edited in sound effects from 78RPM records.
c. early 1950s "(BOB AND RAY BROADCASTS)" (RT) - Proctor and his mother recorded Bob and Ray off of the radio and some of these tapes were used for "The Best Of Bob And Ray" Vol.4, released in the 1990's.
c. 9 / 1958 - 6 / 1962 (YALE UNIVERSITY) - Proctor attends this prestigious university in New Haven, CT, where he befriends Peter Bergman in the drama department.
c. 1958 - 1962 "(YALE UNIVERSITY "DRAMAT" PRODUCTIONS)" (TP) - Proctor appeared in many college performances including the following: "MAN BETTER MAN" BY ERROR HILL (TMP) - Proctor played "Tim Briscoe" in this Trinidad Folk Musical .
"HENRY THE VI" PT. 3 (TP) - Proctor played "Richard" and "The Duke of Glouster" in this Shakespearean production.
"A SLEEP OF PRISONERS" BY CHRISTOPHER FRY (TP) - Proctor starred with Sam Waterson and J. John Badham in this play.
"THEIVE'S CARNIVAL"BY JEAN ANOVICH (TP) - Proctor starred with Austin Pendleton and Peter Hunt in this play.
"CAMINO REAL" BY TENNESSEE WILLIAMS (TP) - Proctor played "Abdullah".
"NOTES FROM THE UNDERGROUND" (TP) - Proctor starred in this prize winning One Act adaptation of Dostoevsky.
c. 1958 - 1962 "YALE REPORTS" - (RP) - Proctor's scholarship job was to edit interviews of visiting celebrities and dignitaries for the college radio station, WYBC. Proctor assembled a comedic out-takes tape, "Yale Distorts" that was issued on the "Dear Friends" Radio album set, #4 side 1.


PHIL AUSTIN:


4 / 6 / 1941 - 1950s (CHILDHOOD) - Austin was born in Denver, CO, and grew up in Fresno, CA, where he attended public schools.
PHIL AUSTIN:
c. early 1950's (FRESNO STATE RADIO) - (LRB) - Austin read the comics over the air on Saturday mornings for this college station in Fresno CA.
early 1950s - 1958 (FRESNO CA. PRODUCTIONS) - (TP) - Austin appeared in numerous school and community performing groups' productions
PHIL AUSTIN:
fall 1956 "CAMPAIGN TRAIN" (RT) - Austin and High school friend, Richard Schulenberg did fake radio productions and recorded this parody with train sound effects inspired by TV coverage of the conventions and election of 1956, on his friend's reel to reel tape recorder.
fall 1956 "(EARL LONG AND THE WATERMELON)" (RT) - Austin and Schulenberg record a parody based on a political scandal involving Long and some strippers.

c. 9 / 1958 - c. 1960 (BOWDOIN COLLEGE) - Austin attended this prestigious 'Ivy League' college of 600 men, in Brunswick, ME on a swimming scholarship.
