Firesign Theatre rekindles its comedy
"Nick
Danger, Third Eye." "He's no fun, he fell right over."
If these phrases blow the dust off your memory cells, you probably wore
out a few record grooves listening to the satirical skits of Firesign
Theatre in the '60s and '70s.
The four-man comedy troupe is recording again as a team for the first
time in 15 years.
Coming Sept. 1 from Rhino Records: "Give Me Immortality or Give Me
Death," about a broadcast on RadioNow during the last 12 hours of the
year 1999. "This is a legit Firesign Theatre record," promises Phil
Proctor, 57. "We had our lives in enough order that we said, 'Let's do
it again,' says Proctor of reuniting with Peter Bergman, David Ossman
and Phil Austin. We are like the Rolling Stones, still cranking out the
rock'n'roll."
